Overview
PapCam is a browser recording tool for creating polished demos, walkthroughs, bug reports, and tutorials. We aim to collect only the information needed to provide and improve the product.
Information we collect
- Recordings and screenshots: Content you choose to capture may include visible page content, cursor movement, clicks, tab audio, microphone audio, and other on-screen information.
- Usage information: We may collect basic product events such as recording started, recording stopped, export completed, errors, and feature settings.
- Device and browser information: We may collect browser version, extension version, operating system, and diagnostics needed to fix bugs.
- Contact information: If you contact us, we may collect your name, email address, and message content.
How recordings are handled
Recordings are created only when you start a capture. PapCam should not record your screen, microphone, or tab audio unless you grant permission and begin recording.
If PapCam stores recordings locally, they remain on your device unless you choose to export or share them. If cloud upload or share links are added later, update this policy to describe where files are stored, who can access them, and how deletion works.
How we use information
- To provide recording, editing, export, and sharing features.
- To save user preferences and product settings.
- To debug crashes, improve performance, and prevent abuse.
- To respond to support requests and product feedback.
What we do not do
- We do not intentionally record without user action.
- We do not sell personal information.
- We do not use recordings for advertising targeting.
- We do not access unrelated browser data except as required by extension permissions and selected capture sources.
Permissions
PapCam may request permissions such as tab capture, desktop capture, storage, tabs, scripting, active tab, microphone, or audio access. These permissions are used to capture selected content, show recording controls, save preferences, and open the editor.
Sharing and service providers
We may use service providers for hosting, analytics, crash reporting, support, or file storage. These providers should only process information as needed to provide their services to PapCam.
Retention and deletion
Locally saved recordings can be deleted from your device by you. If PapCam later offers cloud storage, users should be able to request deletion of cloud-hosted recordings and related account information.
Children
PapCam is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as PapCam changes. The latest version will be posted on this page with the updated date.
